ABOUT

My name is Anna and I am Polish, living in Portugal. I first travelled abroad when I was nineteen. My next travels led me to 16 more countries and allowed me to discover many places and people. Some of them became my best friends.

During that time, I was also becoming more and more concerned about the environment and our influence on it. I started to be more conscious about the responsibility that I carry as a person who lives on this Earth, but especially, as a traveller. Because of that I stopped focusing on visiting as many places as I could and started to travel slow.

What does that mean to me? Clearly, not being late for the train! It means to focus more on quality than on quantity. To visit 3 museums instead of 10 but fully enjoy their art collection. To breathe the smell of coffee and enjoy the moment of drinking it instead of rushing to the next sight. To meet the locals and let them show me their place or even to become local-like. To choose more sustainable forms of transport. To immerse myself into the culture and customs of the place. To focus on the places around me instead of always looking for the ‘other side’, for more, further, better.

Slow travelling made me live in 4 different countries and helped me find my home on Earth, which is Porto, Portugal, where I work as a tour guide. Slow Motion Travels focuses on experiencing culture, customs and art in a meditative, poetic way. This blog is a place where I will share my experiences from my small and big travels as well as tips on how to live and travel more sustainably.
